LUMINIZER Software

LUMINIZER is thoroughly the Outdoor Lighting Organizer and the part of the solution where it all comes together. The software gives you complete control over your Outdoor Lighting System and the data coming from it. The server can be hosted by Luminext for an annual fee per lamp or you can host it yourself for a fixed price. To keep your solution up to date we offer our unique Value Investment Protection (VIP) plan as described in the support and services section of this website.

LUMINIZER provides all the functions you need to keep your efficient, well maintained and save. The software enables you to:

• collect, organize and store the data coming from the street
• recalculate and rework the data so it becomes useful information
• set the schedules, data loggers and alarm options in your system
• manage the Wide Area Network as well as the network in the street
• present the data in the way that you like it best using a normal web browser on a standard PC
• present data to other applications that you already have like billing or maintenance systems using standard web technology and SOAP/XML.

The software consists of four important sections; the Data Engine, the Expert Engine, the data interface and the Front-end. Both parts of LUMINIZER are developed using best practice and state of the art Open technology like SQL and Flex.

THE DATA ENGINE

The heart of the data engine is formed by a SQL database where the data coming from the different sources, like lamps, feeder pillars and sensors is organized and stored. The Data Engine is build with GPRS in mind and is therefore a very “lean” solution that will not transfer one byte to much.

To store the right data in the database in a timely manner a Data Collector gathers the data from the Segment Controllers pre-processes this and then organizes it in the database. Unique is the scalability so the size of your solution is practically irrelevant. You can run 35 lamps and one feeder pillar or 55.000 lamps on 800 feeder pillars the performance remains the same.

THE EXPERT ENGINE

Over the last 8 years of street light projects Luminext, together with our customers, we gained a lot of experience and build significant expertise on street light application. To be able to share this with you all expertise is put in the LUMINIZER Expert Engine that continuously calculates, combines and interprets your data to help answer questions like:

THE DATA INTERFACE

If the information from your street light system needs to be available in other (enterprise) applications, like your maintenance systems, billing system or financial applications the Data Interface will take care of it. It can present any information available in any standard format you wish to other software packages.

If you need to control items in your system from another application, like a traffic management system, accident detection application or weather feeds from the internet it is also done through this interface.

All this software runs simultaneously in a standard Microsoft server with standard server software if you run your own copy. If we host it, you do not have to worry about this at all, since we run it in a fully secured data center on redundant equipment.

THE FRONT-END SOLUTION

This part of the LUMINIZER software allows you to find, manipulate and view the information from your street light system. It will also let you change the settings in you system and monitor the health of your networks. This part of LUMINIZER is modular so you can select those parts of the software that are relevant to your situation and never pay for software you do not need.

THE BASIC MODULE 

The basic Module offers a complete Street Light Management System with all basic functionality integrated. It allows you to look at multiple sites, check and set your schedules, analyze your lamp and equipment behavior as well as your energy usage. It has a simple reporting mechanism that allows for pre-defined reports to be generated and printed.

There is a Map View where you have the option to use standard maps (like Google maps) or maps from your own Geographical Information System.

Color coding and letters in the block view give a first overview and general impression on the segment controller and the lamps. By Clicking on the various items in the block view the information regarding the object you clicked will be presented to you in lists, tables or graphs.

The energy data is presented in a special way as well. The screen shows a graph that reflects the energy usage in a defined timeframe. When moving the pointer along the graph the relevant information is shown in a call out box from the pointer and in more detail in a table on the right. When clicked the exact lamps behavior for that day is presented in a bar graph at the bottom.

REPORTING MODULE

This module gives you the possibility to build your own reports in a very smart way. There are advanced functions to set up the reporting exactly the way your organization and your service vendors require it with your fonts, logo’s and lay-out. The module offers a WYSIWYG editor to make your report layouts and allows for different output formats like .pdf or word.

USER MANAGEMENT MODULE

The basic module offers the possibility to mange log-in on one level and in many cases this is enough for smaller applications. However if you are a service provider or manage various installation you need advanced user management. The USER MANAGEMENT module offers all possibilities manage two main hierarchies for user Groups: one for access to the Front-end (so users can log in to the web site and view designated sections and pages) and one for the Back-end Administration access.

MAINTENANCE MODULE

This module gives a complete tool to automate the maintenance of the Street Light System. There are various scenarios on the maintenance strategy you can implement using this module. Of course there is the “run-to-failure” maintenance scenario sometimes called "crisis maintenance" in this module the management is done based on the actual status of the overall system.

Second it is possible to set up periodic preventive maintenance, or "historical" maintenance. This is where the history of each lamp type is analyzed and periodic replacement is scheduled before the statistically expected problems occur. It is also possible to set up predictive maintenance, which is based on the determination of the lamps condition while in operation. By using the information from our expert engine it is possible to sense the symptoms by which the lamp warns that it will break down.

The latest innovation in the field of maintenance can also be implemented and is called predictive maintenance or so-called pro-active maintenance, which uses a variety of technologies to extend the burning hours of the lamps and to virtually eliminate reactive maintenance. The major part of the pro-active tools is what we call "root cause failure analysis". The fundamental causes of lamp failures like frequent power supply issues can be identified and corrected and using this technique failure causes can be gradually engineered out.

Of course the maintenance module offers a fully automated work order and workflow management system as well as the possibility for tracking and tracing maintenance task in various ways.
